About Mobile Hearing
Ursula and Ben Fromm created Mobile Hearing, Inc. in 2000 as a part-time business to provide personalized hearing care to those unable to come to a conventional office for the services they required, from simple hearing aid cleaning to in-home hearing tests and fitting of new hearing aids.
In 2002, Mobile Hearing opened a part-time office at the Skokie Hospital, and in September 2012, the hospital was purchased by Northshore who would not allow them to continue renting. Seeing this coming, we opened our Lincolnwood office in the Republic Bank Building across the street from the Purple Hotel in 2011, to make sure our patients were still easily served.
Ursula Fromm, BC-HIS (Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences)
Owner and Dispenser
Ursula started her career in the hearing care field in 1987 as an assistant in training for Dr. Clemis (ENT). With offices in downtown Chicago, Berwyn and Justice, Ursula followed and assisted Dr. Clemis as he performed his services. Being very interested and learning so much about the hearing care industry, in 1989, Ursula became an Illinois Licensed Hearing Aid Specialist and began her career working out of the Montgomery Ward Hearing Aid stores. She then joined the office of Charles Lowe in downtown Chicago where she met Dr. Gleitman, who opened his own practices in 1990 on Peterson Avenue, Park Ridge and on Dempster in Skokie, where she remained until
Dr. Gleitman sold his practices in 2001.
Ben Fromm, Business Manager “Office Boy”
Ben spent 20 plus years in the automotive trade as a porter, service writer, parts manager and service director. He left the automotive field in 1990 to try something new. Thanks to Ursula, he wound up working for Dr. Gleitman doing simple accounting and inventory control. After working together with Ursula for all those years, he convinced her to go into business providing mobile hearing care. With the blessing of Dr. Gleitman, they began their journey as Mobile Hearing.
